Horse and Rider
Satchels on a horse and a rider weary
He's wet, his hat bent and he's dreary
The horse plods on through muck and mire
The rider dismounts e’r the horse should tire
The rain heavy - the sky black
Thunder rumbles, seems everything's on their back
On they both trudge looking for shelter
None to be found in this torrent of water
The horse his head hangs low, and paces are shorter
The rider, reins in hand give softening words
Coaxes the horse to give him new strength
We’ll make it you’ll see - warmth and food for
you and me
“Have faith” he says out loud
Yet the rain beats down and the mud on the ground
Walking is hard but onward they must
Rider and horse together, in each other, must trust
‘Trust in the Lord - Gabriel is with you’
Spirit within - Spirit without
To guide and guard in the darkest of time
Is what he heard - a message? Mine?
The rain abating - and the dawn approaching
Gives them new hope of things to come
Thoughts of warmth, for the man,
The horse, - prancing in the sun
On they travel fearful to stop
They keep going they will not drop
Then there they see it, their salvation
A ray of sunlight on a pony station
In your darkest of time trust in your maker
He’ll bring you through and make you safer
His hands will guide and gentle they’ll be
Just listen, and learn, he’ll be there for thee
